Effective dosage: It is recommended to apply Zovirax cream 4 times a day. Aciclovir, by GlaxoSmithKline. Zovirax Cream is used for treating cold sores on the face or lips that are caused by the herpes virus and genital herpes (caused by herpes simplex virus types 1 and 2). It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

Zovirax is the brand name for aciclovir, a synthetic nucleoside analogue active against herpesviruses. Zovirax Capsules, Tablets, and Suspension are formulations for oral administration.

Effective dosage: Your dose of Valtrex and length of treatment will depend on the type of herpes infection that you have and any other medical problems that you have. Side effects: Not everyone using this medicine will experience that or any side effect: headache, rash, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, drowsiness, confusion, false perceptions of things that are not really there (hallucinations), dizziness, nausea and vomiting.

Famciclovir, by Novarts. Famvir tablets are used to treat herpes zoster, commonly referred to as "shingles," in adults. Shingles is a painful rash with raised, red pimples on the trunk of the body, usually the back. Because it is caused by the same virus that causes chickenpox, only people who have had chickenpox can get shingles. When prescribed for shingles, Famvir works best in people age 50 or over.
