Halobolic (fluoxymesterone) is an oral derivative of the male hormone testosterone. The strong androgen component will generate good strength increases with little body weight gain.
Halobolic is an oral steroid. Its fluoxymesterone substance is precursor of methyltestosterone which, through changes in the chemical structure, was made much more androgenic than testosterone. The anabolic component of Halobolic is only slightly pronounced.
Based on its characteristics Halobolic is used mainly when the athlete is more interested in a strength build up rather than in a muscle gain. Power lifters and weightlifters who must stay within a certain weight class often use Halobolic because they are primarily interested in a strength gain without adding body weight. In bodybuilding this drug is almost exclusively taken during preparation for a competition. Since the substance is strongly androgenic while at the same time aromatizing very poorly, Halobolic helps the athlete obtain an elevated androgen level while keeping the estrogen concentration low. With a low body fat content Halobolic gives the bodybuilder a distinctive muscle hardness and sharpness.
Side effects include aggression, oily skin, and virilization. Halobolic is considered to be very toxic to the liver, and thus must be used with caution and for short duration only.
Unlike testosterone, Halobolic does not convert to estrogen. Therefore, estrogen-related side effects such as fat deposition, water retention, and gynecomastia do not occur.
